North Yorkshire Stop Smoking Service NHS

Stopping smoking is the single most helpful thing you can do to improve your health and the health of the people around you.

Smoking causes serious health problems including lung cancer and heart disease. It also puts the people around you at risk from passive smoking particularly babies and young children.

All over the country people like you want to stop smoking. Evidence shows that you are far more likely to stop smoking for good if you get the right support and that support is available free of charge through the NHS.  Make the break and go smokefree - we will help you every step of the way.

Support is available in North Yorkshire and York through North Yorkshire Stop Smoking Service (specialist group and one-to-one clinics – just phone 0300 303 1603 to find out more and book your place), GP practice Registered Smoking Advisors (the majority of surgeries offer this service) or through pharmacies offering an NHS stop smoking service (go to link above to find out which pharmacies offer stop smoking support in North Yorkshire and York).

Specialist advisor services and treatments

North Yorkshire Stop Smoking Service NHS provides locally based one-to-one or group sessions, both with the expert guidance of a Specialist Stop Smoking Advisor. Your advisor will give you information about medications on prescription to help you stop smoking and can assist you in getting a prescription.

Joining a stop smoking group means you can share experiences and tips with other people who are trying to give up.  Some people prefer one-to-one support where our trained advisors can give you help that is tailored to your needs.

Nobody is going to give you lectures or tell you over-the-top scare stories.  You’ll just get practical help from people who understand what you are going through.

The kind of support offered by North Yorkshire Stop Smoking Service NHS, combined with nicotine replacement therapy, Zyban or Champix, can be four times more effective than willpower alone.

Giving up smoking will improve your health and save you money.  It will also protect the health of your family.  Thousands are stopping smoking successfully through your local North Yorkshire Stop Smoking Service NHS.
