“This Autumn, Scarborough families can get fit for free!  A new service from NHS North Yorkshire and York is being launched in Scarborough this October and aims to get young people and their parents fitter and healthier in time for Christmas!  MoreLife Clubs are weight management programmes for young people who are above a healthy weight.  The clubs are created to give young people and their families the chance to take part in fun activities, learn how to eat healthily and lead more active, healthier lives.

The clubs are delivered by a North Yorkshire team from MoreLife, a weight management company based at Leeds Metropolitan University.  MoreLife has extensive experience delivering family clubs and have delivered enormous success in other regions across the country.

Starting on 8 October at Scarborough Sports Centre at 9.30 am, the club runs for 10 weeks and are for young people between 7 and 13 who are above a healthy weight.  Every week children take part in activities such as dodge ball, aerobics, yoga and football and get to explore their understanding of healthy eating and exercise. There is a different activity each week so they can try something they haven’t done before.

If you would like more details, or would like to know if you and your family can attend, please call 0113 812 5233 or contact through the website at www.more-life.co.uk.

Good News

Just 30Health experts advise that just 30 minutes a day of moderate physical activity can increase your happiness and health.  As long as this is done in 10 minute bursts or more, this exercise can be things like cycling to work, playing outside with friends and family, or even walking briskly to the shops.

  • Like a lot of people in York you’re probably close to hitting your target of 30 minutes a day

  • There are lots of easy ways you can reach your 30 minutes in York.

Find further information and some suggestions on ways to be more active in York on our website www.justafewminutesmore.com and look out for monthly offers around physical activity starting this summer.
