Seasonal Flu Vaccine

Flu vaccine for front line health workers

- protect your patients, protect yourselves and do your colleagues a favour!Flu Fighter

If you are a health worker with direct patient contact, you are strongly encouraged to receive the seasonal flu vaccine.

To find out the four worst pieces of flu fiction please click on the NHS Employers Flu Fighter!

By having the jab, you will be doing the following:

  • protecting any patients you come into contact with from a potentially lethal dose of the flu

  • protecting yourself and your family from the flu, and therefore

  • helping reduce pressure on your colleagues by reducing potential absenteeism at work

Am I eligible for the vaccine?

Examples of staff directly involved in patient care are:

  • clinicians, midwives and nurses, paramedics and ambulance drivers;

  • occupational therapists, physiotherapists and radiographers

  • primary care providers such as GPs, practice nurses, district nurses and health visitors;

  • pharmacists, both those working in the community and in clinical settings

Students and trainees in these disciplines and volunteers who are working with patients should also be included.

In short, if you have direct patient contact, you are eligible for the vaccine.

Where and when can I get the vaccine?

Below are four schedules covering four locality areas within North Yorkshire and York which give details of sessions where you can receive a flu vaccination that's most convenient for you.  These will be updated on a regular basis so please continue to check them.
