Advice and InformationInfection Prevention and Control
The prevention and control of Healthcare Associated Infection (HCAI), which includes MRSA and Clostridium difficile, is a high priority. Effective prevention and control of HCAI has to be embedded into everyday practice and applied consistently by everyone. All NHS providers must comply with ‘The Health and Social Care Act 2008: Code of Practice for the NHS on the prevention and control of healthcare associated infections and related guidance’ (Department of Health 2009). For 2010/11, a revised version of the Code covering independent health and social care settings will be prepared. A wide range of resources have been developed to support community health and social care settings. There are the ‘North Yorkshire Community Infection Prevention and Control Policies and Guidance’, posters, leaflets, factsheets, audit tools and much more. Please use the menu below to find more information.
North Yorkshire Infection Control Policies and Guidance are available in all PCT Establishments where patient care is provided, as well as the independent sector e.g. GP Practices and Care Homes and can be viewed in our Policies and Guidance section. To ensure a seamless service, close working relationships are maintained with the Infection Control Nurses in the acute hospital trusts, Microbiology, Occupational Health, Environmental Health Departments and the Consultants in Communicable Disease Control.
