Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment

NHS North Yorkshire and York are pleased to introduce our first Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment setting out our current services and future commissioning intentions for pharmaceutical services for the people of North Yorkshire and York.

Safe and effective use of medicines is the most common healthcare intervention with seventy eight percent of adults visiting a pharmacy for a health related reason at least once a year. This highlights the value patients and the public place on readily accessible pharmaceutical products and professional help and advice.

In North Yorkshire and York we are fortunate to have a network of Community Pharmacies offering a range of clinical services to give the people of North Yorkshire and York the opportunity to achieve the best possible health care outcomes. Pharmacists and their staff are involved in helping patients make the best use of their medicines and reduce any medication risk or waste.
